Champions Clinic Recap: Olympic Gold Medalist Kendall Cross

On July 17, 2021, Spartan ELITE Wrestling Club hosted a once-in-a-lifetime training event: a full-day clinic with Olympic Gold Medalist Kendall Cross.
Who Is Kendall Cross?
Kendall Cross is one of the most accomplished wrestlers in American history:
Having an athlete of this caliber spend an entire day with our wrestlers was an extraordinary opportunity for the Greensboro wrestling community.
A Full Day of Championship Training
The clinic ran from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Proehlific Park in Greensboro, featuring three intensive training sessions:
Session 1 (9:00–11:00 AM): Fundamental technique and positioning — the building blocks that Kendall credited with his Olympic success.
Session 2 (11:30 AM–1:30 PM): Advanced competition strategy — reading opponents, setting up attacks, and finishing under pressure.
Session 3 (2:00–4:00 PM): Live wrestling and application — putting the day's lessons to work in competitive rounds.
The day closed with a photo and autograph session, followed by Kendall's thoughts on what it takes to be a champion not just in wrestling, but in life.
The Impact
When young wrestlers hear an Olympic champion talk about discipline, sacrifice, and perseverance — and then get to drill with that person on the mat — it plants a seed. Our athletes walked away with more than technique. They walked away believing that elite-level achievement is within their reach.
